I went to the Kohler Arts Center this weekend to see the "Sense of Humor" exhibit. I'll leave my thoughts and journaling for my response paper, but I did want to share some pictures....
These images are from the woman's bathroom (and one of the only "exhibits" in which photography is allowed). "The Women's Room" by Cynthia Consentino is on the surface nostaglic of childhood, as represented by the feminine themese, fantasy characters, and paper dolls, and imaginative dressup. At second glance, you see images of animals in clothing as well as accessories that challenge the very notion of identity as represented by clothing and society. No doubt you'll leave the bathroom thinking and with a bit of a smile.
So glad you got to see the exhibit - and looking forward to your review of the show! The bathrooms at Kohler are definitely great! Thanks for sharing the photos.
